I have a blue heron that thinks my pond is a buffet. I cant really tell when he is around. Do they come out at night?. Are their any particular times of day I can expect him to come around such as morning, noon or night?

You should read the article on herons. (Look it up!)

Click for larger imageThe quick read is that the Heron is a dawn and dusk feeder, he's not particularly tripped up by wires, and he quickly learns what's a real threat and what is just a scarecrow. The best way to run them off is a dachshund, fireworks, a gun (illegal) or the Scarecrow. Herons are not scared of owl eyes, inflatable snakes, but they are scared to death of the new alligator you can float in the pond - unless they notice he stays put for a week. So move him around.
